This blog is about a trip to Lithuania and Poland that Kay, Joe, and Denise (Joe's sister) will take beginning Sept. 5. Why Lithuania and Poland? Because (as is hinted at in the title of this blog) Joe and Denise's ancestors came from those two countries. Their mother was Lithuanian and their father was Polish. After doing some genealogical research, and learning about the towns in Lithuania and Poland that their ancestors lived in, Denise decided it would be interesting to visit those places. She asked if Joe and I were interested in joining her, and so here we are. We will all be flying out of JFK airport in New York. It was twice as expensive for us to fly out of Pittsburgh. So Joe and I will drive to New York on Sunday, spend a nice relaxing Labor day weekend with Denise and her husband Tom, and then head to the airport on Wednesday.
